Where is your studio?

The Slug in the Mud studio is in Woodhaven in Okotoks, Alberta. We currently operate out of a small studio in a residential home. We have 3 Shimpo wheels for student use, handbuilding areas, and lots of glaze options.

Do you have an open studio membership?

Not yet! Slug in the Mud Studio is a home studio and does not offer open membership. We do offer some drop-in times to previous students, and this time is uninstructed. The fee is $6 and hour and times vary by month.

Do you offer youth classes?

Not yet. We are in a small home studio not set up for kids. But we do allow kids 9 and older to participate in workshops. Workshops include things like try the wheel night, make a mug, and special holiday workshops.

How do I sign up?

If you see a class listed, and it does not say sold out, then it is open for you to join! All classes must be paid for at the time of booking.

Do you have a store?

GRS is a small batch potter, and we regularly release new pieces for sale. This website will have a store with pieces as they become available. We also sell our work in Okotoks at the Okotoks Art Gallery, and the Collective. In Pincher Creek we are at the Lebel and Small Town Collective. And we are at the Allied Arts in Lethbridge.

Do you offer firing?

We are still setting up, but we will offer firing on a case-by-case basis. Our kiln is quite small at Slug in the Mud. Fees vary by piece. It is $30 to rent the whole kiln. Please contact us if you are in need of firing.

Where are the workshops?

Until we open our new studio, one-day workshops will be held at rented locations in Okotoks. When you sign up, you will receive the full information to prepare you for the workshop, including the exact Location!

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens! Up to 2 weeks before your class or workshop, you can cancel for a full refund minus the credit card processing fee (2.1%) . In the 2 weeks before your class or workshop, you can cancel minus 50% of your fee. Once the class or workshop begins, there are no cancellations. *if you have to miss a class and give notice of 48 hours before, then we may be able to schedule a make-up session. This is not guaranteed. This does not apply to workshops.

Do you do private bookings?

Yes, we do. One day, private bookings are for up to 3 people for 2 hours and are $225. If you are looking for private lessons, please contact us, and we can discuss what you need. We have limited availability for this, so having flexible dates is the best way to book.
